ODV-211 Serves Up Grainy Japanese Scat Tradition

The ODV label keeps a certain vintage Japanese tradition alive, and 211 is a solid entry in it. Running close to an hour, the grainy tape has a lived-in quality that newer material rarely captures. It builds slowly, trusting the runtime rather than rushing toward the mess.

When the play does turn heavy it stays committed, delivering the substantial helping collectors of the label expect. There is a documentary honesty to the whole thing that keeps it grounded. Anyone building a library of authentic Japanese scat will want ODV-211 among the vintage stack.
